Fresno Jingle Bell Run

Jingle Bell Run is Coming! The GAC Runners will once again convene on Christmas Tree Lane in Fresno, California for their participation in the Fresno area Jingle Bell Run on December 9, 2023! We invite all Central California GAC families (and those that may be in the area) to join us for the 5K run or 2 mile walk. The run and walk both benefit Toys for Tots. All registered participants get a sweatshirt AND will get to see their GAC family while there! We will meet at 8:30am at the Starbucks in Fig Garden for a group photo before walking over to the starting line. The run and walk will begin at 9:00am. Clovis Turkey Day Run

The Fresno area GAC Runners will be in Clovis, CA for their participation in the Clovis area Turkey Day Run! We invite all Central California GAC families (and those that may be in the area for Thanksgiving celebrations) to join us for the 5K run or 2 mile walk. The run and walk both benefit the Clovis Senior Center. All registered participants get a long sleeve T-shirt, finisher's medal, AND will get to see their GAC family while there! We will take a group photo in the park near the fence by the pond before the race at 7:45am, so look for GAC people and come say hi. The run and walk begin at 8 AM on Thursday, November 23rd. November Parent Coffee

The GAC Parent Coffee series kicks off next month! Join Audrey "Sunshine" Monke & Chelsea "Chelster" Rowe at 10am PT on November 15 for a discussion of your biggest parenting challenges. We’ll talk about our observations about campers and staff, share ideas and resources, and discuss topics you listed on your evaluations as areas where you want more parent education this school year, including:

Social Emotional Health of Kids & Teens (including anxiety, overcoming disappointment)

Social Media

Friend drama, mean girls, and bullying

Fostering independence & raising self-starters

Plan Ahead!

January 17 Parent Coffee - How to Raise Kids Who Become Thriving Adults Audrey "Sunshine" Monke, GAC's Chief Visionary Officer and author of Happy Campers: 9 Summer Camp Secrets for Raising Kids Who Become Thriving Adults, will discuss simple, research-based and experience-backed strategies covered in HAPPY CAMPERS for bringing some camp strategies home to your family.

Alumni Gather to Celebrate GAC’s 90th Summer

On August 19, 2023, 150 camper and staff alumni, spanning every decade from the 1940s through the 2000s, joined many current GAC staff, to celebrate Gold Arrow Camp's 90th summer. Alumni arrived in the afternoon for tours of camp, reconnecting with camp friends and meeting new ones, and boat rides on Huntington Lake. . Attendees with memories from GAC's earliest years were Manny Vezie's children, Tim Vezie and Diana "Bunny" Vezie Bunney, as well as Manny and Estaline Vezie's grandchildren, Lisa "Bun Bun" Swann, Keith Bunney, Laura Bunney, and Kyle Vezie. Also in attendance was Oliver Hoxie (Kyle's son), Manny's great-grandson. Other multigenerational families in attendance included: Marcia Piper (camper 1968-1970) and her son Michael (camper early 1990s) Susan and Harry Macy (staff 1967-1971), their daughter Chelsea "Chelster" Rowe (camper 1980, staff member 1990-present), and granddaughter Macy "Catavee" Rowe (camper & current staff member). Doug Balatti (staff member 1968, 1969, 1971) accompanied by his daughter, son-in-law and future camper grandchildren. The Daubert Family including Camp Doctor Patrick "Ryder" (2011-2023), Camp Doctor Janeline"Red" (2012-2016), Paloma (camper 2011-2021), and Avery "Sprocket" (camper 2011-2021, staff member 2023).
